Lunch with a stunning view 😍 I was invited by Lunch with a stunning view 😍

I was invited by the @therohotelwindermere yesterday to experience their new dining terrace that has these stunning panoramic views over Windermere.

The hotel is a 5-minute walk uphill from Bowness and felt so calm and peaceful away from the half-term hustle of the town.

We were well looked after by Jake and enjoyed the local meat and cheese platter and the delicious grilled halloumi sandwich on the relaxed terrace next to The Ro, which was built in 1881 and is one of the oldest hotels in the Lake District.

We found it the perfect spot for a bite to eat or a chilled drink on a summer’s day after a morning of adventuring.

*Our meal was gifted by The Ro in return for this review

It was worth the 6am alarm clock for my May dip in It was worth the 6am alarm clock for my May dip in Rydal under blissfully warm blue skies ✨

Surrounded by the neon green abundance of nature, a world away from April’s unfurling a mere 4 weeks ago. The shady canopy of the oak tree (a tree further around from my normal one due to some inconsiderate wild campers who also disturbed the peace) glittered with the reflection of the water.

No longer a sharp intake of breath when my bare feet hit the earth or my body sinks into the water. Instead sunlight, warmth, a chance to linger rather than hurriedly count before wading out to the shore.

Welcome, summer, you were missed ☀️

There is more to Cumbria than the Lake District! There is more to Cumbria than the Lake District!

This is the public train line that hugs the coast of Cumbria, starting in Carlisle and travelling down to Barrow.

This is one of the most scenic sections from Workington to Ravensglass where the train tracks run right next to the sea! I loved watching the fisherman and sea birds cascade as we journeyed on to Ravensglass where the towering peaks of the Western Lake District came into view ⛰️

Scenes from a slow Bank Holiday weekend at home ar Scenes from a slow Bank Holiday weekend at home around Ambleside 🌿☀️

On my days off, I’m usually in search of a new Wainwright to climb or place to visit.

But to beat the traffic and crowds here in summer, it’s best to get out quite early or late - and after a busy few weeks of work, it felt good just to keep chilled and local

A walk down to Borans Park in Windermere filled with buttercups and hawthorn flowers, veggie burgers & homemade potato salad, an 8am walk to Rydal along the terrace under Loughrigg and around to Grasmere lakeshore line with sunny yellow Welsh poppies

Oh this sunny May, you can stay forever ☀️🌿☀️👌🏻
