Doorstep wanderings up Todd Crag near Ambleside on a gorgeous spring evening ⛰️

I’ve lived in Ambleside for almost 4 years now, and this view still takes my breath away (and not just from the climb 😆)

I feel equal parts deeply lucky to live here and equal parts guilty that juggling different aspects of work has put a pause on doorstep adventures of late - trying to carve out and grow my freelance work alongside a day job has led to all the usual excuses - too tired, too late, no time etc

Vowing to bring back more doorstep adventures this summer, even tiny ones like breakfast on the hill rather than always looking to chase new places ⛰️

Snapshots from a few days of exploring the under the radar charm of Lancashire (without the Lake District crowds 🤪)

Highlights included….

🥾 Driving over the lonely, heathery moorland of the Trough of Bowland and pretty villages and stopping for strolls along Langdon Beck and in Dunsop Bridge

🍦Stumbling across a rough track to take us to @farmonthefell selling delicious ice cream from a converted shipping container on their farm

💦 Strolling along the Lancaster Canal at Garstang Marina, Britain’s longest lock-free inland water way

🌿 Exploring Beacon Fell country back and climbing to the trig point for views of the sea and back over the Forest of Bowland

🕊️ Enjoying the evening sunshine and listening to the birds and Canadian geese honking on Stocks Reservoir

🏃‍♀️ Piecing together a varied run of mud, knee high grass, a bridge over the M6 and wild garlic and bluebell lined lanes around Bilsborrow

☕️ An epic Sunday brunch at @brew.lancaster - green eggs for the win!

Highly recommend an adventure to Lancashire!
